CARAM Asia

CARAM Asia is committed to npromoting and safeguarding the health rights of migrant workers in Asia, with a particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health and rights. CARAM Asia is presently working on a regional project titled, “Prevention & Advocacy on Migrant HIV Issues, Enhancing Access to Health Services, and Promoting HIV Positive Migrant’s Rights in Asia.” This project is comprised of a three-year funding cycle from 2022 to 2024 funded by the Robert Carr Fund (RCF) for Civil Society Networks.

CARAM’s Funding Support- RCF:

The Robert Carr Fund (RCF) has been instrumental in providing continued financial support to CARAM Asia for the successful implementation of this regional initiative. This funding enables CARAM Asia to collaborate extensively with project partners at the national, international, and regional levels on advocacy and community-level engagement for migrant workers.

The Robert Carr Fund is an international funding mechanism working to:

Strengthen regional and global civil society and community networks
Empower, involve and serve inadequately served populations (ISPs)
Achieve results against HIV and for health, inclusion and wellbeing

Core Working Strategies

Conducting participatory action research (PAR) studies to generate knowledge and evidence in support of the rights of migrant workers (MWs) and using the evidence for advocacy and awareness raising.
Advocating for the progression of migrant workers' rights at different levels, including national, regional, and international levels.
Implementing relevant capacity-building activities according to the needs of the stakeholders involved (MWs, CSOs, PLHIV networks, etc.).
Advancing migrant workers’ rights through media campaigns and other relevant public relations activities.
Increasing access to services for migrant workers, including health, legal, and other relevant services.

In Pakistan, CARAM Asia is funding SPEAK Trust to implement a project “Integrated Services of Safe Migration, HIV Prevention and Care for Migrants and Families. This project strategically enhances Pakistani migrants’ access to HIV prevention and care through evidence-based advocacy and service delivery. It also supports safe, orderly, and regular migration through widespread awareness campaigns
